Welcome from the Principal

Welcome from the Principal

Dear families,

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to SEK International School El Castillo and to the new school year.

Since 1972, SEK-El Castillo has offered an exceptional education, based on innovation, professional development and the will to always undertake new and interesting projects. We trust that this will be the beginning of a lasting relationship, where we will learn from each other and together we will collaborate to carry out our mission of educating balanced and open-minded international students, with a solid holistic preparation to face the challenges of the 21st century.

In an increasingly interrelated that evolves at a dizzying pace, we have the responsibility, as a leading school, to have the capacity to constantly update and adapt. This is our goal, because we know that the school stage is the foundation on which the lives of our students are based and that is why we tackle this great challenge with enthusiasm.

As an international school, it is also a priority for us to develop an educational system that is characterised by the freedom to decide, design and implement the solutions that we consider to be the best for the different challenges posed by society.

As you know, since last year we launched the SEK Future Learning Model, which optimises the use of our digital ecosystem and the school's indoor and outdoor physical spaces, allowing us to offer personal learning experiences through active methodologies that promote meaningful learning and the development of basic skills for the 21st century. All this reinforces the SEK-El Castillo educational model, which seeks to promote an international and multicultural mentality, a conceptual learning that allows developing autonomy, leadership, and entrepreneurship, as well as the acquisition of healthy personal and social skills that are so important in today’s world.

Ensuring the health and safety of all our students will continue to be a priority. Which is why we have already carried out an exhaustive review and fine-tuning of all the school's COVID protocols in recent weeks, and we have also prepared the school spaces and provided training to the teaching teams.

Diversity and differentiation, the importance of the development of the arts and sports, the need to acquire a second language and integrate it into the curriculum, the possibility of continuing to grow by incorporating new programmes, such as the accreditation of the school as a Centre for High Artistic Performance, as well as offering the vocational training course in horse-riding in collaboration with Camilo José Cela University, are some of the new challenges and opportunities for our students this year.

The school staff and I welcome you to SEK-El Castillo.

Kind regards,

Eloísa López
